The Green Party of Utah is honored to host the 2018 Annual National Meeting.

Hello Utah Greens,

The time is upon us once again for The Green Party Annual National Meeting. The Green Party of Utah is honored this year to host the ANM at the University of Utah, July 19th- 22nd! Join us for a weekend of skill building workshops, issue oriented workshops, keynote speakers, national delegate meetings, committee and caucus meetings, but mostly just to hang out with other awesome greens from around the country.

Registration cost includes all workshops, plenary sessions, films, and much more. Registration cost is currently $165. But you can get a special commuter rate special commuter rate of $110 for the entire weekend or $35 a day for Thursday or Friday, $50 for Saturday. Lunch is included with Saturday registration.

Throughout the ANM there will be many opportunities for education and networking.

Join us Thursday evening for the opening of the ANM! Carl Moore, local Indigenous activist, co-founder of PANDOS and Salt Lake Air Protectors, will open the event to help us acknowledge and honor the land upon which the event is being held. Following that we have a very special guest, Chase Ironeyes, an American Indian activist, attorney, politician, and a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. Chase will be speaking to issues that face Indigenous people today. He is facing possible prison time for the charges waged against him for his actions at Standing Rock and he has refused a plea bargain. Chase is refusing to surrender in the epic battle for climate, human rights and democracy at Standing Rock. After Chase speaks, Green Women Rising, Utah’s Women’s Caucus, and the GP National Women’s Caucus, will be screening the film “Dawnland”, a documentary film with never-before-seen footage that reveals the untold narrative of Indigenous child removal in the United States.

Thursday and Friday there will be numerous workshops on a variety of topics. View the list here: https://slc.gp.org/workshops/. Additionally, the Green Party National Women’s Caucus will be screening the film Iron Jawed Angels on Friday night. (Seating is limited). This film chronicles the fight of older women, inspired by American suffragette Alice Paul, against U.S. President Wilson’s refusal to give all women the vote and the price to be paid by these women for rising up.

Saturday morning will feature a panel discussion and a presentation on how you can bring anti-oppression training to your community. Saturday afternoon will feature another panel discussion and comments from candidates. There will be caucus meetings or workshops. Join us for our Greens Got Talent Fundraiser Saturday evening.

Finally, the ever popular social/fundraiser will be held Saturday night at Sugarspace Arts Warehouse, 132 South 800 West in Salt Lake. This event will be filled with lots of fun, talent, networking and more!

The Green Party Peace Action Committee will be displaying the Drones Quilt Project throughout the event. Read more about the project here: https://dronesquiltproject. wordpress.com/

We need volunteers! This is going to be an amazing event, and we’ll need as many local volunteers as we can get! If you’ve ever wanted to get more involved with the Green Party, but weren’t sure how, this is the perfect opportunity.

Volunteers will be needed to help in these areas:

  • Meeting people at the airport and driving to the University.

  • Help in the registration room and tabling at the event (training will be provided).

  • Live Streaming, blogging, videographers, photographers throughout the event.

The Ballot Access Committee has asked for donations for items that will be auctioned at a silent auction during the event. This is a great opportunity to get involved even if you don’t have any time to volunteer in person.

We’re also seeking housing for people while they are here, so if you’d be willing to let someone use that camper sitting in your driveway, your spare bedroom, your couch, or even set-up a tent in your backyard, please let us know!

If you would like to help in any way please email Volunteer@GreenPartyUtah.com and let us know how you would like to get involved. You may also go to this form and fill in your desired tasks and time slots: ANM Utah Volunteer

Looking forward to seeing all of you, and welcome to Salt Lake City!

Thank You,

Your friends at the Green Party of Utah
